London called…

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Well it has been a big change coming to the UK, as it would be, the weather was pretty nice at first but has been cold the last week or so with the odd ray of sun here and there. I started my new job at Jo Malone last week and it has been awesome, already got a full cologne and shower gel for starting and another cologne for being part of the team Saturday to thrash the daily target. I also had a review today and they are really impressed with my work. Just missed my own target by 200 of the 7400 (sorry no pound symbol on my US laptop) and made 12% of my sales in skincare beating everyone and beating my target of 10%. Not bad for 5 days work. The girls I work with are lovely too and next week we are being filmed for two days for customer market research, it really is all go in the flagship store. Looking forward to our floral installation over the week of the Chelsea flower show, apparently there is a competition for displays through the local stores and Jo Malone have won it quite a few times. However they have warned me that the store is freezing during that week as the A/C is cranked up to keep the flowers alive and pretty. What we do for art!!

Been out clubbing to a few different events to check out the music scene here and have had some interesting experiences. This Saturday just gone we went to XXL to check out the bear club and what it has to offer. I went for my birthday just before leaving for Sydney with the main thought being that I would be free to dance since bears mostly go for other bears. We used the same reasoning for our choice this week and also it was nice to try something other than Vauxhall. The music was very similar to what I play, but nothing really super new that I had to run out and buy, heard Million $ Bill twice and from the same DJ, tsk tsk. The atmosphere was great and friendly and we certainly were left to dance up a storm in our little group, certainly somewhere I would like to play, so demos will be pressed and sent out soon. Afterwards we went to Beyond at Area and had a blast well into the morning. The music was a lot harder, but no less fun and the crowd was a mix of all ages, types and nationalities. Once again met a bunch of great people, most of which is thanks to my fabulous friend Martin Cheong who knows everyone and is super fun to hang out with. Yes you sister, thanks heaps!!
